Jim Powell, CPDT-KA

Owner/Trainer

Of course I’m a dog person. It’s kind of a pre-requisite for being a dog trainer. But in my experience, it takes a bit more to be effective in the role. Education, experience, and an ongoing commitment to excellence are all invaluable. But the most important element for success is a clear objective, which has been detailed for your review on our About page. Before every class, I remind myself of Happy Tailz' guiding principles:

 1. Bond, Bond, Bond

 2. Train Fun

 3. Speak Dog

Make no mistake, utilizing the humane and highly effective techniques of positive-reinforcement training, your dog will learn all of the valuable cues and skills. From Sit, Down, Stay, and Come to loose leash walking and beyond, you and your fur kid will have fun learning how to speak a common language. But much more importantly, you and your dog will build a lifelong bond based on kindness, respect and love.
